UPS Important Update: Thailand Import License Requirements for Personal & Non-Commercial Goods

Dear Valued Customers,

This is an important reminder regarding new import regulations for Thailand.

In accordance with the Thailand Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), importers are now required to obtain the corresponding import license(s) for the following goods shipped to Thailand:

• Personal-use items such as food, cosmetics, and medical devices.

• Non-commercial industrial products.

1. FDA Requirements:
For imports of food, cosmetics, and/or medical devices, the importer must submit an FDA import application through the FDA e-submission system and comply with all stipulated conditions.

2. TISI Requirements:
For non-commercial industrial products (e.g., glass/plastic containers & utensils, food containers, toys, electrical appliances, bulbs or insulated wires, sockets, motors, switches, sanitary ware, synthetic dyes, safety helmets, etc.), the importer must obtain a TISI import license through the Thai National Single Window (NSW) system.

Critical Consequences of Non-Compliance:
Shipments arriving in Thailand without the required import license(s) are subject to being held, returned, or disposed of by the local authorities. If a shipment is disposed of, a disposal fee (Formal Access Long) of CNY 2,720.87 will be charged to the shipper. This fee covers, but is not limited to, customs fines, storage, and handling charges. Please note that the final amount will be settled in local currency and is subject to the prevailing exchange rate.

Action Required:
To ensure smooth and timely customs clearance, we strongly advise you to inform your customers in Thailand of these import requirements prior to shipping.
